The Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015
Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014
Notice is hereby given under Regulation 15 of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 that between 1 August 2023 and 30 August between 9.30am – 4.00pm on weekdays any person may inspect, and make copies of the accounts and other related documents of the Fire Authority for the year ended 31 March 2023, as stipulated in Section 25 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014.
The accounts and other documents will be available for inspection at SMÖØ¿Ú HQ, Garstang Road, Preston, PR2 3LH by prior arrangement. Please telephone 01772 866912 to make an appointment.
The Statement of Accounts are unaudited and may be subject to change.
During this period, a local government elector for any area to which the accounts relate, or their representative, may question the auditor about the accounts, or make an objection to the accounts as set out in sections 26 and 27 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014. Any objection, and the grounds on which it is made, must be sent to the auditor in writing, with a copy to the Authority Treasurer at address given above. Any objection must state the grounds on which the objection is being made and particulars of:
- any item of account which is alleged to be contrary to law; and
- any matter in respect of which it is proposed that the auditor could make a public interest report under section 24 of, and paragraph 1 of Schedule 7 to, the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014.

Unwanted fire signal (UwFS) policy
Unwanted fire signals (UwFS) cost businesses time and money and divert firefighters from genuine emergencies and other duties. We are committed to reducing the number of these false alarms and so have adopted a policy around how we respond to automatic fire alarms.

This report looks back over the 2019-2020 year and how we performed against our objectives in the Annual Service Plan 2019-2020. It looks at the development of the burn team, a new 'Stinger' appliance and the use of drones to fight fires. We are proud of what we have achieved in helping make Lancashire Safer and this was highlighted in the service being named UK Fire Service of the Year at the iESE Public Sector Transformation Awards, recognition for the whole service that reflects our investment and innovation in frontline services.

Annual Service Report 2018-19
Last year, SMÖØ¿Ú dealt with the largest moorland fire in its history, at Winter Hill. During the incident we welcomed Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services and were the only service to be rated 'outstanding' in any category in the first tranche of inspections. That isn't all we have to be proud of - take a look back at everything we achieved in 2018-19.

HMICFRS Report 2018
In July 2018, the Service was inspected by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.Ìý The Service was rated as ‘outstanding’ for promoting its values and culture. In all other areas, the Service was rated as ‘good’ with no areas that ‘require improvement’ in any of the 11 categories that were assessed.
