At secondary level we have several different schemes aimed at聽further developing the ideas and concepts discussed during the Year 6 ChildSafe session as well as exploring how to spot fire hazards and fire safety in the home
Secondary
- TeenSafe
TeenSafe is our KS3 safety educational package primarily aimed at Year 7 students, though this can be flexible depending upon the school鈥檚 circumstances. It consists of two key modules:
- Choices and consequences 鈥� focusing on the effects of anti-social behaviour
- Water safety聽鈥� focussing on the dangers of 鈥榗old water shock鈥� and tombstoning
Each module is approximately 45 minutes in length and has been developed with schools鈥� PSHE days in mind. Whilst at first glance it may not appear that the modules are relevant to your school, please bear in mind the activities that students may get involved with outside term time. - Heat of the Moment - Key Stage 3
This package encourages young people to understand the risks and potential consequences associated with making hoax calls and deliberate fire setting for themselves, their families and the communities they live in.
This lesson is delivered by our professional community fire safety advocates and is suitable for Year 7 or Year 8 students; complementing PSHE and citizenship curriculum areas. It is usually delivered in schools that request the input or where there are problems with anti-social behaviour, hoax calls or deliberate fire-setting in a particular area. The programme is also available to other organisations that work with young people where it is felt it would be beneficial.
It covers:
- Understanding of the crime of arson, including knowledge of how it is dealt with by the judicial system.
- Consideration of the consequences of arson
- Recognising why people may commit arson, including peer pressure
- How to make a 999 call properly
- Understanding the cost and legal implications of making hoax calls
- Developing strategies to cope with peer pressure to make hoax calls or set deliberate fires

The FIRES scheme is aimed at children under 17 who have developed a fascination with fire and who have exposed themselves or others to the risk. It is also available to those who have committed a fire-related crime as part of measures to prevent them from re-offending.It covers:
- An individual education plan based on their own circumstances and may include awareness of Risk and dangers of fire and consequences of deliberate fire setting
- Fire Safety

- Wasted Lives
Aimed at year 10 and 11 students, the Wasted Lives package seeks to educate learner and pre-learner drivers. It is designed to instil safer attitudes and behaviours on the road. It focuses on the consequences of taking risks in a car as a passenger as well as a driver.
Sessions are delivered by SM重口 and explore Lancashire’s聽fatal five:
- Drink and drug driving.
- Speeding.
- Mobile phone use.
- Not using seatbelts.
- Distractions.
Our teams have extensive knowledge of the local area and can engage effectively with students about road safety.
Sessions can be delivered either in-person or virtually in two formats:
- Assembly – accommodating a full year group. Session length is flexible but requires a minimum of 20 minutes.
- In class – with up to 35 students. Session length is ideally 60 minutes and includes group work.
